Greg Roche

The Turning Point

In 2012, after nearly a decade as a VP of Human Resources, I heard the words no one wants to hear: "I'm eliminating your position."

What I discovered next changed everything—not just for me, but for how I viewed professional relationships forever. Despite years of success in HR, I had no network. No connections. Just a resume and a growing sense of panic.

I was an introvert who'd rather have dental work than attend a networking event. But necessity forced me to develop a different approach to building professional relationships—one that didn't require cold calls, awkward events, or spammy emails.

A Different Approach

I think about professional networks like gardens. Each conversation is a seed. Some will grow into strong relationships, while others might not take root. But if you don't plant the seeds and tend to them consistently, nothing grows.

Thinking this way transformed how I approached networking, both personally and professionally. Instead of focusing on collecting LinkedIn connections or attending endless events, I developed a methodology based on:

Starting with who you already know

Making it easy for people to help you

Building trust through consistent, small actions

Giving before asking

From Personal Experience to Organizational Impact

What started as a personal journey has evolved into a mission to help organizations build cultures of trust through better professional relationships. I've seen how teaching people to network effectively within their organizations can transform:

  • Employee engagement

  • Cross-functional collaboration

  • Innovation speed

  • Talent mobility

  • Retention rates

★★★★★

My Approach

I believe sustainable organizational change happens through tiny habits, not grand gestures. Just like my "one conversation a day" approach to personal networking, I help organizations build relationship-driven cultures through small, consistent actions that compound over time.

Beyond Work

When I'm not helping organizations build trust and collaboration, you'll find me skiing the slopes of Colorado, exploring new destinations with my family, or writing about networking for introverts.

Though I call Denver home, I partner with organizations nationwide to transform how their people connect and work together. I believe in the power of a good walk-up song to build confidence. And yes, AC/DC's Back in Black is mine.
